From the Illyrian tribes and Romans who originally inhabited Montenegro to its unique role in today's political scene of Europe, you will learn two and a half thousand years of history and visit some of the most beautiful coastal towns on Adriatic. Montenegro tour from Dubrovnik basic itinerary includes drive through Herceg Novi and Perast, couple hours of Kotor and Budva walking tour and panoramic view of Sveti Stefan. Montenegro day trip from Dubrovnik can be extended by optional visit to several unique attractions which we suggest below.
Departure time of Dubrovnik to Montenegro tour is predicted in early morning hours to avoid border crossing jams. We will drive one hour south towards Prevlaka peninsula where we enter Montenegro. Right after passing the border we will have short coffe break in Herceg Novi and than optional 45min visit to Perast where you take a boat trip onto Island Our Lady of the Rocks and visit museum. Upon arrival in Kotor you will have optional 1 hour guided walking tour through the old town and 1h 30min free time before we continue towards St. Stefan. Here we suggest optional 2h visit to Lovcen national park and mausoleum of Montenegrin ruler P. P. Njegos. After 30min drive from Kotor we will stop at view point above Sv. Stefan for photo shooting and then heading back to Budva for sightseeing. Time for lunch is planned in Budva after walking tour. Optional is an hour extra time for swimming on one of the beautiful sandy beaches. After leaving Budva we will take ferry boat across the Kotor bay on our way back to Dubrovnik.
